| Аннотация: | Статья посвящена актуальной проблеме обучения специальной терминологии в техническом вузе. Выделены основные теоретические аспекты данной проблемы, связанные с комплексом понятий терминоведения, как научно-практической дисциплины. Отмечается важность развития навыков работы с различными словарями, включая этимологические словари, что обеспечивает рассмотрение терминов с позиций диахронии. Приведены основные виды работы с научно-техническими профессионально ориентированными текстами, а также комплекс упражнений для работы с терминологией по специальности с точки зрения развития и совершенствования лексических навыков. |
| Описание: | Teaching English language terminology to students of technical specialties is referred to as an actual problem which requires both theoretical investigation and practical solutions. A technical specialist cannot succeed in current market conditions if he/she does not possess some sufficient knowledge of terminology in his/her sphere of professional interests. Nowadays terminology has become not only the way to international cooperation, but also the way to deeper understanding of the specialty. The article deals with theoretical consideration of linguistic nature of scientific and technical terms, as well as practical recommendations for organizing English language terminology teaching. From the theoretical point of view for successful terminology teaching it is necessary to make students know the basics of science of terminology at the initial stage of teaching technical English. A great deal of attention should be directed to teaching students to work with different monolingual and bilingual dictionaries, as well as etymologic. That allows analyzing terms from the diachronic point of view. Working with different types of dictionaries helps students to understand and deal with polysemy of terms, as well as their synonymy. It is important to teach students to work with their professionally oriented texts, containing terms, that expose students to polysemy and develop their skills to distinguish between various meanings. The kinds of work with scientific and technical texts include different types of reading, technical translation, writing abstracts and summaries. The work with terminology, as the work with lexical units, presupposes at least three stages of exercises. The first stage exercises deal with initial introduction and semantization of lexical units on the basis of dictionary meanings and the definite context which helps to choose the meaning. The second stage exercises are connected with developing lexical skills on the basis of semi-communicative practices. The third stage exercises are presented mainly by communicative practice and ensure the smooth transfer to spontaneous speaking.
Only taking into account all above-mentioned factors it is possible to successfully form and improve terminological culture of technical students. |
