Міжкафедральна синергія у викладанні іноземної мови професійного вжитку

Abstract

The paper is devoted to building a synergistic relationship between the teachers of English for professional purposes, and teachers of special subjects at the non-language universities in order to increase the students’ intrinsic motivation to study a foreign language. Referring to the term ‘synergy’ as a condition in which the integrated total is greater than the overall amount of the components summed up, the interdepartmental synergy in the joint preparation of future specialists should contribute to achieving the expected level of quality in higher education. The interdepartmental team-teaching is described basing on the experience of the Higher School of Economics and management, Donetsk national technical university. There are determined the benefits of such relationship for teachers and students, which should convince the stakeholders of the need for certain changes in approaches to teaching and their perception of their role in developing the "end product". There are outlined the possible ways of developing synergistic relationships, and defined the conditions for their success.
