Description: It is substantiated that through the participation of households in the economic relations of the property it is provided the implementation of social, economic and other needs of all businesses, among which the interests of households are primary and system-forming. The household as a key institution of the market economy is the bearer of the private property rights. Through the implementation of its ownership interest a household determines all the parameters of reproduction in the national economy: its volume, structure, objectives, and trends in all phases of reproduction process, ensuring the very existence of the modern economic system. There is proven the special role of the households institute to ensure the regulatory function of the market mechanism: in the market economy households are empowered by the consumers, through market mechanisms forcing producers to serve best the interests of the latter. Description: There are studied market cycles, one of the phases of which is a crisis, and evaluated their impact on metallurgical industry. There is proven the dependence of the metal production on the phase of the economic development. It was found that during the crisis there is a decrease of this index, while the precrisis years, it reaches its highest value. The conclusion is made about the inevitability of crises as natural stages of the economic development. The management of the metallurgical industry is proposed to get prepared in advance to megaeconomic crises and to develop a strategy for the conduct in these conditions in order to avoid bankruptcy and to prepare for the phases of the economy that followed the crisis and depression - the revitalization and recovery.
